Sensitive support in implementing the test result in everyday life

In my 8 years of counseling with the Cytolisa test, I have encountered the topic of dealing with the test result on a daily basis in many facets. In my opinion, the interaction between counselor and client is of decisive importance for their motivation and ultimately for a successful dietary change.

As my own intolerances have led me to very personal experiences with the test, I was able to approach my clients with a basic understanding of their situation from the outset. Even if the respective circumstances were very different, my first reaction to the result was almost always the shocked question: “What can I eat now?” Sometimes this “shock moment” at the beginning is important because it shakes people up and shows them: “Hey, something has to be completely different now!” In most cases, the willingness to at least take a closer look and deal with the topic arises at this point at the latest, and often a first impression of the client’s daily routine and eating habits is already gained. In most cases, their attitude towards health also becomes clear very quickly and I get an initial feeling of where and how I can “pick them up” in the further course of the consultation.

In the two years I worked as a telephone consultant for the Cyto-Lab throughout Germany (2010-2012), I also gained very broad insights into our collective nutritional awareness. It was precisely these very different clients, who became aware of the Cytolisa test either because they were affected by their health or through therapists who were open to naturopathy, that taught me a lot.

An essential observation for me was that client compliance increased when they felt that their individual situation was taken seriously and that I could empathize with their everyday situation. From this point – i.e. in contact with each other – the adventure and the great challenge of changing your diet can begin. (If this point is not reached, there is a high probability that it will remain a one-off consultation and that clients will “keep looking”).

Phases of a consultation

  • Establishing contact, anamnesis
  • Conveying the most important basic information
  • Ask how it went with customized further information
  • Cleansing phase (alkaline fasting or slow elimination of the reacting foods, depending on your state of health and overall score in the test result)
  • Relief and stabilization with more variety and experimentation
  • Inspiring and awakening curiosity and creativity
  • Step-by-step guidance: from “substitute foods” to delicious food
  • Build-up phase (after the strict phase, weakly reacting foods can be consumed again from time to time)

In counseling, it has proven to be a good idea to regularly ask specifically about the diet of the last few days or weeks and to work on this in connection with any body reactions that may have occurred. This is where ambiguities are usually revealed very directly and all the accumulated questions can be answered in a practical way. Every body reacts differently to a change, but you often get a very concrete sense of what sensible next steps would be. It will become clear whether an even stricter form is helpful and advisable or whether more foods are possible again and which ones.

For detoxification reactions, alkaline baths, sauna, exercise, colon hydrotherapy, intestinal care pre- and probiotics or various gentle detoxifying agents can be recommended – depending on your own ability, symptoms and needs.

After a metabolic change and especially in the initial phase, it is important not to lose sight of your nutritional requirements. Nervousness, a lack of concentration and restlessness can indicate a protein deficiency, as the body was previously used to being supplied with more or different proteins and may now have to produce new enzymes in order to digest the new foods well. This takes time, and it is often important to impart knowledge about physiological processes, because an understanding of this in turn strengthens the client’s powers of observation and patience. This allows them to gradually develop a new body awareness and learn to take more responsibility for themselves. The need for vitamins and minerals should also be taken into account and, if necessary, a sensible, temporary substitution should be recommended.

A lot of loving and creative support is needed to “integrate” the recommended measures into everyday life, and here we can always arouse curiosity and provide suggestions. Recipes that make you want more and new preparation methods are a good help. In the beginning, I often presented and explained the “exchange products”, but later on, freer ideas and completely different possibilities can be shown, which then significantly expands the variety.

I always see the art of inspiration and motivation as the most important aspect of consulting – encouraging people to open themselves up to new experiences and tastes and to really leave the old paths behind. This takes time and a phase of in-depth study. If we as therapists have walked a similar path, it is easier for us to sense the different phases and empathize with them. Through their own inner experience, they gain more confidence in being able to help clients even in critical situations. This requires good self-awareness in order to be able to recognize the client’s physical warning signals, depending on one’s own therapeutic training and orientation, and to decide whether a recommendation of simple home remedies is sufficient or whether the client should be referred to medical care.

Basically, I can say that the Cytolisa test has also proved very successful for my own clients and has shown many people a way out of very different conditions of subtle and chronic malaise. A welcome “by-product” is a much greater awareness of our own diet and therefore also of the miracle of our body, which we get to know better and sometimes even appreciate in the first place through a crisis.

I would like to mention a political aspect that has become increasingly clear to me over the years. When I walk through our huge supermarkets, I am always amazed at how many of the foods on offer there are far removed from physiologically sensible, truly nourishing foods. Of course, everyone has to decide for themselves what and how much of it they want to put their body through – on the other hand, without an in-depth study of the subject, we are hardly in a position to really decide on a healthy diet that is appropriate for our body, mind and soul, as we are often more or less deliberately misled on the superficial level of advertising. The “jungle” of recommendations for a healthy diet is almost even more confusing, and if there is a lack of time and leisure in a busy working day, a quick option is usually preferred so that the stomach no longer growls.

Depending on our constitution and previous stress, our body can withstand a lot and compensate for as long as it can. However, I have noticed that people with serious digestive complaints are getting younger and younger, that they are reaching a limit faster and faster due to the various environmental stresses, where the storage and compensation capacities are exhausted and the first symptoms appear.

A lot of educational work is needed here! To support this spirit of time, I offer lectures, seminars, cooking courses and individual consultations throughout Germany (also on the phone or via Skype) as well as delicious and inspiring gourmet catering (vegetarian, vegan or raw food), which is tailored to the respective needs and takes into account any intolerances. All components can be combined as required. For detailed information, please refer to my website www.seelen-futter.de or contact me personally at 01736250051.
