Eyelid eczema: swollen, itchy and inflamed eyes – Kirsten Sauer

“Eyelid eczema, drooping eyelids, allergy or just dry eyes? Cortisone or surgery?”

Kirsten Sauer has been suffering from swollen, itchy and inflamed eyes more and more frequently for a year and a half. With her complaints, she consults an ophthalmologist, then a dermatologist, again an ophthalmologist and the family doctor. The diagnoses range from eyelid eczema, allergies or simply dry eyes to drooping eyelids. The treatment recommendations range from cortisone, all kinds of medication and eye drops to surgery on the ‘drooping eyelids’.

My eyes are getting worse and worse…

Kirsten does not want to have the supposed ‘drooping eyelids’ operated on, partly because she did not have any problems with her eyes in the past and does not believe in the diagnosis of ‘drooping eyelids’. The other therapies and recommendations help little or not at all. As she shuttles from one doctor and diagnosis to the next, Kirsten’s complaints get worse. The eyes are swollen shut and water frequently. At least she is quite sure of the diagnosis after many visits to the doctor – it is eyelid eczema. Kirsten doesn’t want to try out any more doctors. A doctor friend finally recommends that she contact the cytolab.

“The test result was a shock at first!”

When she receives her test result, Kirsten is initially shocked. Fortunately, she had been warned that many of her favorite foods could appear on the result. “The yeast was the main problem for me because I could no longer eat baked goods and bread rolls with it, not even sourdough bread worked.”

“I was able to watch my eyelid eczema disappear”

Kirsten is very consistent in implementing her test results. In the beginning, she manages to implement over 90%, despite various intolerances. She also finds a substitute for her beloved bread that she likes: “My bread substitute is crispbread, with rye, chestnut or buckwheat.” The effort is worth it: she can watch the eczema improve. The eczema disappears completely within three to four weeks.

“Everyone can find alternatives that work – if they take a calm approach.”

Kirsten continues to follow the Cytolab’s recommendations, “I manage to implement around 80% of the recommendations permanently. Overall, I feel fitter and have more energy thanks to the change in diet.” Her tip for others in a similar situation: “Don’t let your test result drive you crazy. Everyone can find alternatives that work – if you look around thoroughly at the beginning and invest some time in discovering the alternatives.”
